Review: Flirting with the Frenemy by Pippa Grant (2019)

Bro Code, Book 1

Heat Factor: It’s steamy pretty much before you even get to know them

Character Chemistry: It starts with a bang and ends the same way

Plot: Ellie has a wedding and her ex is going to be there. Wyatt just wants to reconnect after the one night stand that resulted in Ellie’s traumatic car accident. Add pirates, Wyatt’s adorable son, and a cast of memorable characters and you have yourself the next series you won’t be able to put down.

Overall: Guys, I have a problem. It’s a Pippa Grant problem. I don’t want help.

Review: The Alchemy of Night by Judy Hall (2019)

Heat Factor: I have never actively rooted against a couple, but there’s a first time for everything

Character Chemistry: I’ve had indigestion with more fire than these characters.

Heat Factor: Mildly steamy

Character Chemistry: Like an old pair of jeans

Overall: It’s cute, you’ll fall in love with the characters, it’s well-written. It’s a keeper.

Plot: Woman is suddenly widowed shortly after marrying the wrong man for the wrong reasons and blames herself for it. After reuniting with her brother at his business in the wild, heathen San Francisco settlement, she starts to fall for his best friend. Meanwhile, mysteries ensue.

Overall: Like my teen years, this one’s got some issues.

Review: The Duke of Distraction by Darcy Burke (2019)

The Untouchables, Book 12 of 12

Heat Factor: So very steamy.

Character Chemistry: It’ll getcha.

Plot: Lady enlists her brother’s best gentleman friend to help her find a husband she’ll love (and who will support her budding millinery business)–Gentleman swears he’ll never marry. WHAT COULD GO WRONG.

Overall: Really expected this one to fall into the same predictable trope, but it was surprisingly fresh.
