Plot: Merry keeps getting engaged to men and realizing she doesn’t love them! Luckily Trent isn’t worried about nonsense like that because these two are MFEO.
Overall: Eloisa James is at her best fixing marriages.

Character Chemistry: They repeatedly say they are meant for each other, but I’m not so sure
Plot: Roman Holiday, but without the bittersweet ending
Overall: I liked the first book in the series better

Character Chemistry: You are dreadful! I hate you. Wait. Maybe I don’t hate you? I certainly don’t hate your kisses.
Plot: Pride and Prejudice, with a few deviations.
Overall: I did a lot of snort-laughing.
Splendid Trilogy, Book 1
Heat Factor: Hotter than most of JQ’s later books, but still just maybe Bunsen burner level
Character Chemistry: High drama but the overkill is fun
Plot: misunderstandings, compromises, kidnappings, OH MY!
Overall: If I were to write a first romance novel, I would hope it approaches this level of entertainment
Heat Factor: It’s chilly in these ancestral ducal mansions
Character Chemistry: I never believe that he loves her, even if she insists she knows that he does
Plot: What happens after the American Heiress snags her Duke? Well…
Overall: Ambivalence
