Heat Factor: Hot, tender, touching, strong, hopeful
Character Chemistry: All four couples have undeniable and complicated chemistry.
Plot: Four stories of love and hope entwined with Juneteenth–each story set in a slightly different time period, each story SO historically and emotionally vivid.
Overall: This is an absolutely phenomenal MUST read — it’s going to hit you right in the “feels” and stay there.
Heat Factor: Hot cocoa level heat – not the burn-your-mouth kind, either
Character Chemistry: Three of four stories have insta-love and…it works okay
Plot: Connecting thread is terrible love inducing shortbread
Overall: MacLean’s snowflake scene is one of the most romantic ever. The rest is fine.
Heat Factor: Characters remove clothing, but it rarely gets racier than that.
Character Chemistry: Distinctly lacking.
Plot: Maiden + Forest + Autumn Equinox
Overall: I would classify these stories as high fantasy, not romance
Heat Factor: 1 story kisses only, 2 stories low heat, 1 story moderate heat
Character Chemistry: Ranges from “You guys still have some stuff to work out” to “Soulmates, obviously.”
Plot: Thematically cohesive. Plus, I learned some history, which is always a bonus!
Overall: Uneven, particularly in tone
Heat Factor: Somewhat variable, nothing terribly explicit
Character Chemistry: All over the map
Plot: Eliza Hamilton is collecting stories about her husband, and our protagonists are all somehow involved
Overall: As a basis for linking stories, this was a little odd
