Review: Seven Days: Monday-Sunday by Venio Tachibana (story) and Rihito Takarai (artist) (2019)

Heat Factor: Some scorching kisses!

Character Chemistry: There’s a lot of high school angst here, but it was a bit much for me

Plot: Seryo’s quest for love has become something of a joke at school, and Shino, believing the joke to be all it is, asks Seryo to date him for the week

Overall: Loved the concept, so-so on the execution

Series Review: The Team by Tal Bauer (2021)

Heat Factor: They have a lot of sex. (A lot.) And it’s explicit but not every time.

Character Chemistry: He was meant to love the white swan!

Plot: Gay football player thinks he can spend his college career with his head down and without romantic entanglements…until he meets the love of his life during a summer study abroad in Paris

Overall: Holy angst, Batman!

Heat Factor: It’s actually not that slow a burn, but getting to that first kiss is oof

Character Chemistry: They just like each other so gosh darn much

Plot: (Best friend) and (father) of The Jock’s protagonists are third wheels so much that they find themselves pairing off, particularly after the quarterback is left behind while everyone else has summer break

Overall: It’s a sweet one. Floating hearts just coming right off it.

Review: You & Me by Tal Bauer (2022)

Heat Factor: Planning ahead never felt so good

Character Chemistry: Y’all. On the narrator side it’s a slow bi awakening this-new-friend-is-a-lifeline to oh-damn-I’m-actually-in-love-with-him while on the other end it’s CLEARLY an unrequited crush. I did a little happy dance.

Plot: Luke’s teen son won’t talk to him, his estranged wife is tragically dead, and his emotional state is terrible. Luckily he meets Landon, his son’s best friend’s dad, who encourages him to join the football booster club to repair his relationship with his son. Unluckily, he’s just realized he’s actually in love with his new best friend.

Overall: What is all this wetness on my face?
