Review: Hot Ghost by Annika Martin (2019)

Heat Factor: There’s a little bit of ghost on ghost action, but not too much

Character Chemistry: It’s amazing what can happen when one stops being unnecessarily mean to someone and starts listening to them…

Plot: She used to antagonize him for being some dumb ghost who does the same thing every night. Then she also died, and now they’re the only ones who can talk to each other.

Overall: I regret nothing

Review: Black Witch Magic by Mila Nicks (2020)

Paranormal Hunters, Book 1

Heat Factor: They have extremely bad sex and are both absolutely mortified. This scene is excellent. (There is also a bit of good sex at the end.)

Character Chemistry: They’re both misanthropes who like reading. I buy it.

Plot: Selene’s family is cursed. And she’s a witch. Aiden is a paranormal investigator who definitely does not believe in magic and wants to do a show about her grandma.

Overall: Mostly fun

Review: Her Big City Neighbor by Jackie Lau (2020)

Cider Bar Sisters, Book 1

Heat Factor: Yup, there is some boning.

Character Chemistry: “Why is she trying to be my friend? She is so perky!”

Plot: Amy moves to the Big City, enthusiastically embraces Big City Life…and her new neighbor.

Overall: This is some A+ grumpy/sunshine action and it’s just what I needed.

Review: Immortal Born by Lynsay Sands (2019)

Argeneau Series, Book #30

Heat Factor: Excepting that they have to stay joined for a half hour, it’s not super sexy

Character Chemistry: A little bit of fated mates, so we’re so-so here

Plot: Immortal flies in to meet his maybe life mate, is embroiled in all her problems with other rogue immortals

Overall: I was so delighted by the Argeneaux that I am gutted that this book relies on a homophobic characterization

Review: Scoring off the Ice by Stacey Lynn (2020)

Ice Kings, Book #2

Heat Factor: These are some horny 20-somethings

Character Chemistry: Sure! It’s fun! But also they’re in their early 20s…

Plot: Young hockey player loses virginity to puck bunny, and his cute neighbor finds a baby left at his door 11 months later.

Overall: I think my favorite thing about this book is that the hero is Danish.
