Review: The Master by Kresley Cole (2015)

The Game Maker, Book #2

Review of The Game Maker, Book #1

Heat Factor: They have amazing kinky hate sex energy

Character Chemistry: The “I hate you but I really want to jump you” dynamic is EXCEPTIONAL

Plot: She needs money to stay on the run from her serial killer husband, so she steps in for her friend as a very expensive escort for a night. He is bowled over by her breath of fresh air in his luxurious but monotonous life, but he also thinks everything she says is a lie. So obviously they fall in love.

Overall: Combo of “What did I even just read?” and “That was amazing.”

Review: The Dragon Prince’s Bride by Elva Birch (2021)

Royal Dragons of Alaska, Book #3

Reviews of Royal Dragons of Alaska: Book #1, Book #2

Heat Factor: Not closed door, but not very intense or explicit

Character Chemistry: The way they go through their captivity together is just absolutely charming

Plot: You think it’s going to be an angsty, pining, stealing-the-fiancée kind of a thing, but then they get kidnapped and everything goes sideways

Overall: My favorite so far in this series. SO FUN.

Series Review

Review: Chronicles of a Dancing Heart Duo by Olivia Boothe

Heat Factor: Lots of peppers (and a tad of pepper spray perhaps?)

Character Chemistry: It overpowers all reason and sanity, I think

Plot: Sara was a promising student at Julliard when her whole life fell apart. Four years later, she sees a tall, wealthy, handsome man and they immediately get tangled up in a super intense, emotionally-explosive relationship with a lot of serious issues and roadblocks to happiness

Overall: This book is going to be like catnip for a VERY niche audience–if you thought Gossip Girl was the best, most romantic show around, this might be for you. If your favorite summer memories of love look like they came straight out of an episode of Jersey Shore, this might be for you. If you’ve ever heard that Sex and the City actually modeled fairly unhealthy female friendships and you thought “huh?”, this might be for you.

Review: Billionaire Dragon’s Nanny by Brittany White (2020)

Irish Dragon Shifter Brothers, Book #1

Heat Factor: Who cares about sex?! (Though it wasn’t too shabby, TBH)

Character Chemistry: I mean, why wouldn’t you invite a homeless woman to live with you and take care of your child 10 minutes after meeting her?

Plot: COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS

Overall: I’m so delighted by the existence of this book

Review, The Duke Project

Review: No Good Duke Goes Unpunished by Sarah MacLean (2013)

The Third Rule of Scoundrels

Thanks to Susan Craig for the recommendation! I was looking for inspiration for The Duke Project, and Temple is, indeed, a prime specimen of Duke-ish-ness.

Heat Factor: Simmering

Character Chemistry: Sizzling

Plot: You ruined my life, and now I will have my revenge!

Overall: Well executed, but I couldn’t get over the initial premise
