Review: A Royal Disaster by Jennifer Bonds (2020)

Heat Factor: I did a text search and confirm sex but as to quality I cannot say

Character Chemistry: It was good, but I should have been more invested by the time I DNFed in order to make it really click

Plot: He’s the heir with overbearing parents and political problems blah, blah, blah; she’s the clumsy commoner who’s a breath of fresh air but could never really be with him blah, blah, blah

Overall: I was so optimistic about having a fun fake relationship comfort read but I really just cannot deal with this one

Review: My Fake Rake by Eva Leigh (2019)

The Union of the Rakes, Book 1

Heat Factor: Two steamy sex scenes in the last few chapters

Character Chemistry: Gotta love a man in glasses, but Sebastian is too woke for his own good

Plot: In order to attract some dude’s attention, Grace gets her friend Sebastian to pretend to woo her. Because dudes gotta have competition to think a woman is sexy, obviously.

Overall: Too much winking at the audience for my taste

Review: Her Pretend Christmas Date by Jackie Lau (2020)

Cider Bar Sisters, Book 2.5

Review of Cider Bar Sisters Book 1, Book 2

Heat Factor: There’s only one (twin) bed!

Character Chemistry: I, like Julie, would very much like to be the one person who gets to see the uptight man with his tie off and his top button unbuttoned. Oh la la!

Plot: Younger sister with irregular job feels like a disappointment to her parents and lies to them about a man with whom she had a terrible date but whom they would love. So she ends up inviting him to Christmas, of course!

Overall: Well now I want to have a romantic ice skating date and a baking competition

Review: Ten Things I Hate About the Duke by Loretta Chase (2020)

Difficult Dukes, Book #2

Review of Difficult Dukes, Book 1

Heat Factor: It’s your medium-low-level histrom sexytimes, and it works well in context

Character Chemistry: The way these two processed their relationship – separately and together – was awesomesauce

Plot: Ten Things I Hate About You but more grown up

Overall: I waited a loooooooooooong time for this book, and it was better than I’d hoped for
