Review: What a Wallflower Wants by Maya Rodale (2014)

Bad Boys and Wallflowers, Book 3

Heat Factor: A scene where they masturbate together is spectacular

Character Chemistry: Prudence is terrified of men, but John wins her over.

Plot: Prudence and John are both stuck in an inn because it’s raining. (Rain! In England! Shocker!)

Overall: Despite a rocky start, this book delivers

Review: An Heiress to Remember by Maya Rodale (2020)

Gilded Age Girls’ Club, Book 3

Review of Gilded Age Girls’ Club, Book 2

Heat Factor: They may think they’re each meeting fire with fire but really they’re just one big sexy inferno

Character Chemistry: I wanted them to get there so, so badly and audibly said “YES!” when they did.

Plot: Two unstoppable titans of business come head to head across the street from one another — he, the self-made man determined to destroy her family’s business and she, the wiser, stronger, natural-born leader of her family’s empire.

Overall: If you want to walk away from a steamy romance standing taller and looking deeply satisfied, you should definitely read this.

Heat Factor: The sex serves the plot, not the characters

Character Chemistry: They repeatedly say they are meant for each other, but I’m not so sure

Plot: Roman Holiday, but without the bittersweet ending

Overall: I liked the first book in the series better

Review: Lady Bridget’s Diary by Maya Rodale (2016)

Keeping up with the Cavendishes, Book 1

Heat Factor: Sparks

Character Chemistry: You are dreadful! I hate you. Wait. Maybe I don’t hate you? I certainly don’t hate your kisses.

Plot: Pride and Prejudice, with a few deviations.

Overall: I did a lot of snort-laughing.

Review: Some Like It Scandalous by Maya Rodale (2019)

Gilded Age Girls Club, Book 2

Heat Factor: Their first kiss is distinctly underwhelming, but don’t worry! It gets much better.

Character Chemistry: Completely believable, as enemies and as friends and as lovers

Plot: Our parents want us to get married, so let’s have a fake engagement to get them off our backs! Seems like a solid plan.

Overall: Fun AND fabulous AND feminist! Definitely worth reading.
