Review: A Christmas Gone Perfectly Wrong by Cecilia Grant (2014)

Blackshear Family series, Prequel Novella

Heat Factor: Two virgins together is SO FUN

Character Chemistry: The tension was killing me

Plot: Two proper, single, genteel people wind up with only one bed while trying to go about their respective Christmas plans

Overall: Perfect Christmas romance is perfect

Review: Spellbound by Allie Therin (2019)

Magic in Manhattan, Book 1

Heat Factor: It’s absolutely fade-to-black, but also Arthur has a whole stern daddy thing going on, which, as we know, I am here for

Character Chemistry: I texted on the group chat: “This Allie Therin paternalistic hero is really doing it for me”

Plot: Young man with magic underestimates/fears his powers until forced to confront his abilities when swirled into magical intrigue by slightly older man

Overall: This book was so marvelous in so many ways that the only downside is that it’s not a standalone.

Review: Custom Built by Chantal Fernando (2020)

Fast & Fury, Book 1

Heat Factor: It kind of felt closed door, but it’s not, it was just that I was that detached while reading

Character Chemistry: 180 degrees wouldn’t adequately describe the instant shift these protagonists have in their attitudes to each other

Plot: I don’t even know what to tell you. There’s more than one murder of characters we meet, and I was wondering why the epilogue was 1. Not called the epilogue and was 2. Four chapters long

Overall: SMH

Review: Scoring off the Ice by Stacey Lynn (2020)

Ice Kings, Book #2

Heat Factor: These are some horny 20-somethings

Character Chemistry: Sure! It’s fun! But also they’re in their early 20s…

Plot: Young hockey player loses virginity to puck bunny, and his cute neighbor finds a baby left at his door 11 months later.

Overall: I think my favorite thing about this book is that the hero is Danish.

Review: The Dragon Prince’s Librarian by Elva Birch (2020)

Royal Dragons of Alaska, Book 2

Review of Royal Dragons of Alaska, Book 1

Heat Factor: It’s not what I’d call explicit

Character Chemistry: Tania resists the inevitable for a long time

Plot: Magic spells are creating romance and causing international conspiracy trouble

Overall: It’s just fun and I want more!
