Review of Hot and Hammered, Book 2

Heat Factor: Hot and Hammered is a pretty accurate description

Character Chemistry: Teasing starts mean, eventually becomes good-natured

Plot: When Bethany walks off her job, Wes pulls a Zellweger and follows her. Plus Wes is trying to figure out how to parent his niece. 

Overall: I loved the relationship, but I had qualms about some of the other stuff

Review: A Change in Tide by Freya Barker (2020)

Northern Lights, Book #1

Heat Factor: There is a good deal of self-love happening before the loving each other happens 

Character Chemistry: Overall good, but she played some games with him that I didn’t like

Plot: Woman decides she wants to figure out how to push past her PTSD agoraphobia anxiety for the life she wants. Man decides to focus on family after his hockey career is ended.

Overall: Everything is just fine.

Review: Be Not Afraid by Alyssa Cole (2016)

Originally published in the anthology For Love and Liberty: Untold Love Stories of the American Revolution.

Heat Factor: Just a little bit warm

Character Chemistry: Surprisingly believable emotional connection considering the length

Plot: Two enslaved Black people choose opposite sides in the Revolution and find themselves thrown together in a British encampment

Overall: The depth in this short story was marvelous

Overall: MacLean nailed the close on this trilogy.

Heat Factor: Pretty sure my couch is just a pile of ashes now

Character Chemistry: Holy forking shirtballs! Yes!

Plot: Not-put-together man needs to figure himself out, too-put-together man needs to address his emotions.

Overall: Cole McCade can rip my guts out and give me a massive book hangover anytime.
