Review: Dream Chaser by Kristen Ashley (2020)

Dream Team, Book 2

Heat Factor: If you had asked me earlier, I would not have said that being collared is sexy. But I am totally buying what Ashley is selling here.

Character Chemistry: Well, I wanted them together in book 1, so…yeah, they’ve got chemistry

Plot: “I want to be with you.” “Never gonna happen.” “You know what? Fine.” … “Actually, not fine, you just got kidnapped and dragged into a dangerous situation with an ever-increasing body count, and I am not okay with that.”

Overall: Ermagherd, worth the wait!

Review: Indigo by Beverly Jenkins (1996)

Heat Factor: It’s pretty steamy for a reasonably standard old school historical romance

Character Chemistry: Galen makes Hester feel things. He also thinks she’s arresting.

Plot: Slave catchers are roving around, looking for our protagonists, in antebellum Michigan

Overall: The work this book does is really something special

Review: Mine to Keep by Rhenna Morgan (2020)

NOLA Knights, Book 3

Review of NOLA Knights, Book 2

Heat Factor: It’s not not descriptive (he really likes to go down), but I wasn’t bowled over by heat or quantity

Character Chemistry: He paid attention to what I like and wants to take care of me when no one else did, so I guess it won’t take me too long to get over his outrageously domineering behavior…

Plot: Bonnie’s family disappears, so she calls the only friend she’s got, knowing her friend’s husband will get involved. Bonnie doesn’t realize that by activating the NOLA Bratva, she’s just gotten herself claimed by a mountain of a man.

Overall: I was certainly entertained, but not blown away

Review: Home for Christmas by Susan Craig (2019)

Cedar Hill, Book 4

Reviews of Cedar Hill Book 1, Book 2, Book 3

Heat Factor: Some nipple action, then fade to black

Character Chemistry: He pursues her aggressively, and she seems to like it

Plot: She’s the one for me! Now I must convince her of this immutable truth

Overall: People who are fans of one-sided courtship books might really enjoy this one, but it seriously did not work for me

Review: Ten Things I Hate About the Duke by Loretta Chase (2020)

Difficult Dukes, Book #2

Review of Difficult Dukes, Book 1

Heat Factor: It’s your medium-low-level histrom sexytimes, and it works well in context

Character Chemistry: The way these two processed their relationship – separately and together – was awesomesauce

Plot: Ten Things I Hate About You but more grown up

Overall: I waited a loooooooooooong time for this book, and it was better than I’d hoped for
