Review: Bidding for the Bachelor by Jackie Lau (2021)

Fong Brothers, Book #2

Heat Factor: Lotsa handjobs and blowjobs, but we’re not without a penetration scene, too

Character Chemistry: My insides kept flip-flopping all over the place with these two

Plot: Cedric might be the one person who actually sees Brian. Brian finally finds some personal direction as he supports Cedric in achieving his goals.

Overall: I’m really hungry, but also I’m a heart eyes emoji

Review: Role Model by Rachel Reid (2021)

Game Changers, Book #5

Review of Game Changers, Book #2

Heat Factor: It’s sexy but not as sexy as some of the other books in this series

Character Chemistry: I am charmed: grumpy loner falls for the the bubble of joy

Plot: It’s never too late to be brave enough to make good choices

Overall: I came for the Heated Rivalry postscripts, but I stayed for the sweetness

Review: The Lord I Left by Scarlett Peckham (2020)

The Secrets of Charlotte Street, Book #3

Heat Factor: I’m way too prim and proper to tell you how smouldering this gets, but it burns

Character Chemistry: I have never been so distraught thinking that two people were doomed to be apart in my entire life, honest truth

Plot: Alice learns that her mother is at death’s door and accepts Lord Lieutenant Henry Evesham’s invitation to deliver her home as quickly as possible despite his role as an evangelical reformer tasked with investigating the sex worker trade and recommending changes. This is nuts, because Alice is currently a housekeeper in training to be a whipping girl at a house of pleasure in London…

Overall: Look, take everything you thought you knew about sex work and faith and romance novels about the above and just toss it out the window because this book is about to shake you to your BOOTS, I’m telling you

Review: Hot Rabbi by Aviva Blakeman (2020)

Heat Factor: They have sex (a good bit of it), but it was more focused on the emotional connection and the kissing and touching than on the arousal and orgasms

Character Chemistry: Just because there’s an instant connection and attraction doesn’t mean it’s all smooth sailing from there!

Plot: Shoshana has a lot of emotional baggage associated with the synagogue. New hot rabbi single parent David would like to date her.

Overall: This story has a lot of good energy. Definitely a good one for people who like their protagonists to be checked in and thoughtful.

Review: It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey (2021)

Heat Factor: It’s a slow-but-steady scorcher.

Character Chemistry: Folks…we have a classic Grumpy/Sunshine on our hands!!!

Plot: Piper tries to wrest control of her breakup narrative in a way that lands her in jail…so her wealthy stepfather sends her and her sister to the town they were born in, where they are meant to live in the bar apartment they inherited from their father for three months to SHAPE UP, and there she meets Brendan, the cranky sea captain who stole my heart. I mean, her heart.

Overall: Obsessed. This book was such a solid read, and so enjoyable…
