Review Revisited: Ingrid’s Take on Enemies with Benefits by Roxie Noir (2019)

Loveless Brothers, Book #1

Review of Loveless Brothers, Book #3

Heat Factor: If this book is on fire, why’s it so wet

Character Chemistry: Listen, there’s a razor thin line between knowing exactly how to torment someone and knowing how to…torment them…and this book walks it perfectly.

Plot: Violet is abandoned at a restaurant on a terrible date only to discover the head chef is her childhood arch nemesis, Eli. Eli has traveled the world and recently moved home to accept a new job…where Violet works. They’re both on the line for a competitive $20k bonus, so needless to say, things get interesting.

Overall: This is a review revisited confirming—and elaborating on—everything Holly said in her glowing review.

Review: The Portrait of a Duchess by Scarlett Peckham (2023)

Society of Sirens, Book #2

Heat Factor: Three explicit sex scenes, including one where a third party joins Rafe and Cornelia.

Character Chemistry: Rafe falls hard and fast, Cornelia fights her attraction.

Plot: Cornelia maaaaaay have neglected to tell her friends that she’s been married for twenty years. And that her husband is now a duke.

Overall: This one dragged.

Review: The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen by K.J. Charles (2023)

The Doomsday Books, Book #1

Heat Factor: We open with sex, then get a whole lotta feelings, and then some more sex toward the end.

Character Chemistry: Both the antagonism and the support hit perfectly.

Plot: Gareth inherits a barony, a house, and a whole lot of trouble with smugglers when his father dies. Luckily, Joss is only too happy to help him out.

Overall: An enjoyable read.

Review: Calling the Shots by Kathy Alerding (1985)

Heat Factor: The whiskers get a bit frisky, but it fades to purple

Character Chemistry: Eh

Plot: Elaine is living her routine hockey life until Roland gets sent down from Edmonton and shakes things up

Overall: This was significantly less infuriating than I expected.

Review: Heartstopper: Volume 3 by Alice Oseman (2020)

Heartstopper, #3

Reviews of Heartstopper #1 and #2

Heat Factor: Sleepovers are now forbidden at Charlie’s house, but they do go on a field trip to Paris… (and talk about how they’re not ready yet)

Character Chemistry: Silly teenager flirting

Plot: Acknowledging oneself is one kind of scary, but coming out is a whole other kind

Overall: The sweetness remains! But there’s also a lot of giggling.
