Review: Avalon’s Last Knight by Jackson C. Garton (2020)

Heat Factor: There is sex once, but it doesn’t really stand out against everything else going on

Character Chemistry: They’re soulmates because they’re actually Lancelot and Arthur. Ish.

Plot: Really too much to summarize here

Overall: Whaaaaaat

Review: Braking Hard by Gloria Joynt-Lang (2020)

Storm Harbor, Book 1

Heat Factor: Nothing too explicit, but the slow build up means the sexual tension is really palpable.

Character Chemistry: They bond over their love of muscle cars.

Plot: Gage and Eden are both struggling when Eden takes a job working at Gage’s garage. Sparks fly, but Eden definitely doesn’t want to bang her boss. Also, Gage has ADHD.

Overall: There are some interesting things going on in this book, but the different pieces don’t feel well-integrated.

Review: Blind Faith by Delphia Baisden (2020)

Sweetshade, Book #1

Heat Factor: Really great physical affection. Lots of hugs. Also some hot sex. But, oh, the hand kissing in the truck…

Character Chemistry: These two were super committed super fast, even with everything else going on.

Plot: PTSD, independence, homophobia, mistrust, love

Overall: The love story was totally sweet but the drama stressed me out like crazy

Review: The Restart by Nicole Falls (2020)

New Beginnings, Book 2

Heat Factor: “…if I were reading into my countenance on a purely superficial level I’d attribute it to getting stellar pipe as the sun rose…”

Character Chemistry: When you know what you want, you know what you want.

Plot: Shocked by a personal loss, a young woman decides to shake things up. The man she made a marriage pact with during a vacation years ago lets her know he’d like to collect.

Overall: I was looking for a soccer romance, and this is not that, but it was totally sweet.

Character Chemistry: He’s the love of her life!

Plot: Ashley’s husband died in a car accident three years ago. But then she finds him again when she’s randomly on vacation. EXCEPT! He has amnesia.

Overall: I could not suspend my disbelief enough to enjoy this book.

Series Review: The Dirty Billionaire Trilogy by Meghan March (2015)

Heat Factor: I am incinerated.

Character Chemistry: Surprisingly good, considering how poorly they communicate

Plot: Let’s make a marriage out of a one night stand because the sex is THAT GOOD

Overall: Can’t read just one book

Sutter Creek, Montana, Book 3

Heat Factor: Let’s tryst on this ski lift!

Character Chemistry: My PTSD is incompatible with your hobbies!

Plot: They are planning a holiday party together, but really it’s about Caleb dealing with his PTSD in a place that triggers his PTSD

Overall: Diversity tokenism done wrong
