Review: Space Raptor Butt Invasion by Chuck Tingle (2015)

Heat Factor: The title says “invasion” but it was extremely consensual

Character Chemistry: Not sure chemistry is altogether necessary if you’re the only two people on the whole planet

Plot: Man is left behind alone on terraforming experiment planet due to budget cuts, finds sentient dinosaur who also thought he was alone to hang out with

Overall: There are several excellent zingers in this short story.

Review: Safety in Numbers by Sophie Penhaligon (2022)

Heat Factor: It’s a medium roast

Character Chemistry: They click pretty much instantly but I’m not sure it’s much of a chemical reaction for the reader.

Plot: Seraphina has a TBI and a lot of baggage. Milo is a CEO/Scientist man who is not very nice and evidently very lonely. They fall in love.

Overall: if you saw the gossip columns featuring Elon Musk and Grimes, and you were like, “that’s so hot”, you will probably like this book. Or if you love a really paternalistic hero.

Review: Upside Down by N.R. Walker (2019)

Heat Factor: kissy kissy

Character Chemistry: I only wish people found my verbal diarrhea as adorable as Hennessy finds Jordan’s

Plot: I’m not sure there is one? Jordan is figuring himself out.

Overall: really fun read with very little angst or tension

Review: Whiteout by Adriana Anders (2020)

Survival Instincts, #1

Heat Factor: There’s only one sleeping bag!

But most of the heat comes from kisses because it’s too cold to actually remove clothing. (Don’t worry! There’s still danger banging!)

Character Chemistry: It’s amazing what stripping away everything but survival will do for a couple.

Plot: Trek across Antarctica in the winter while being chased by scary bad guys.

Overall: Starts with a bang, ends with…less of a bang.

Review: Village Fool by ‘Nathan Burgoine (2021)

A Little Village Novella

Heat Factor: Sweet little kisses

Character Chemistry: They actually interact very little, but the way the story is told made me really want this for them

Plot: Man has had a secret crush on his former physiotherapist since physiotherapy started, and it gets blown wide open when his friend plays an April Fool prank on him

Overall: Some people might be super stressed by this prank, but I thought this story was ADORABLE
