Review: Petrichor Blooms by Mindi Briar (2022)

The Halcyon Universe, Book 2

Heat Factor: Literally they have sex in the very last scene

Character Chemistry: I am flustered because she’s so cute!

Plot: Danya kidnaps Amy. Amy kidnaps Danya. Danya’s twin kidnaps Amy. Danya rescues Amy. Plus intervening adventures. Also includes: a giant science mystery, a terrorist rebel organization, and pirates. And dragons.

Overall: Fun, rip-roaring space adventure with a dollop of romance.

Review: The Demon’s Secret Baby by Jeanne Oates Estridge (2022)

Touched by a Demon, Book #3

Reviews of Touched by a Demon Book #1 and Book #2

Heat Factor: Lots of hard nipples and clenching thighs, but there’s only one explicit sex scene at about the midway point. Then the morning sickness begins.

Character Chemistry: Lust, longing, and ten thousand years of hurt feelings.

Plot: Samael and Lilith plan a conference with the heavenly delegation.

Overall: Loved the first half, thought the second half was…ok.

Review: The Sidekick and the Supervillain by S.E. White (2022)

Super Love, Book #1

Heat Factor: Some under-the-tablecloth-at-a-restaurant shenanigans

Character Chemistry: “I shouldn’t like you but I doooooooo”

Plot: The Evil Bane recognizes Michaela as the Amiable Accomplice when he comes into urgent care. He doesn’t reveal her secret identity, but he does ask her out on a date.

Overall: Fun premise, clunky writing

Review: Dance with the Devil by Kit Rocha (2022)

Mercenary Librarians, Book #3

Reviews of Mercenary Librarians, Book #1 and Book #2

Heat Factor: Hot enough

Character Chemistry: Dani and Rafe have had electric, elemental chemistry from the beginning of the series

Plot: Overthrowing an evil corporation and reinstating democracy, no big deal

Overall: I was honestly more invested in the dystopia plot than the romance

Review: Made for Me by Lily X (2022)

New World, Book #2

Heat Factor: Ana tells Kit she’s a good girl so you *know* there’s some heat here.

Character Chemistry: The Goddess has decreed it!

Plot: Kit escaped from a lab; Ana has hunted her down and is going to return her. Time for a road trip (to pound town)!

Overall: I liked that this book surprised me.
